When I was a freshman, I wrote about who I was as a reader and who I was as a writer. Looking back now at these essays, I’m a different person yet similar at the same time. Overall, I have definitely grown a lot. My style of writing in my essays had been very informal, and hints of that still remain in my writing today but not as much. I still need to work on developing new ways to start my sentences and hook my readers. I allow thoughts to circulate in my head and plan things out much more than I used to. My reading has remained relatively the same. I mentioned that I’m very picky and I need to really like a book in order to finish it which is still true. I want to work on expanding my comfort zone in reading this year. I have a lot of hopes for how I’m going to grow as both a reader and a writer throughout my sophomore year.

I fully agree with and accept the feedback Mr. Heidt gave me for my How Do I Think I Think essay. I feel like he has given me good advice that I can utilize when moving forward with my writing. He pointed out that though the piece itself is about metaphors, I still need to provide a concrete example to further help my readers understand and picture what I am trying to say. Next time, I will be sure to do so. I think I will go back to revise and add the things that I need to because it will help with my writing. It will also make my essay easier to comprehend and it’s a very simple thing that I need to fix.
